Novelty 2024: This new design from PIKO is powerful, compact and yet extremely delicate. The compact design of the prototype has been perfectly captured and realised to scale in the model. Thanks to the filigree ingot frame and the clear view in the engine area, the massive boiler almost seems to float. This impression is supported by the fine wheel spiders of the running gear, which also boasts a fine brake linkage. The typical structural features of the prototypes were also taken into account when realising the model.The crystal-clear window inserts in the drivers cab and the unobstructed interior provide a clear view of the detailed boiler and drivers cab rear wall. The die-cast zinc and metal parts give the model a very high dead weight which, in combination with the finely tuned motor with flywheels, ensures optimum driving characteristics. The factory digital versions have switchable authentic lighting for the engine and drivers cab. The flickering in the firebox can also be switched digitally. The Expert Plus model also has digitally switchable couplers and a wheel-synchronised, pulsed vaporiser.
